Your 1st Visit

Your 1st Visit

The first visit is important for establishing your state of health, how we may be able to help you and our health goals for now and in the future.  Your Chiropractor will first conduct a full examination of your spine and look at your health history in detail, and you may be referred for Xrays if necessary.  It is also important that you discuss your health and wellness goals with us and we establish a plan to achieve them.  This happens in a number of steps:

Upon entering our office, our Chiropractic Assistant will  welcome you as a member of our family.  We will request         that you complete our Health History Form.  You can also complete this form online, prior to coming into our  Practice.  This form provides us with your health history and information on your condition, and your Chiropractor will  discuss this with you as part of your initial consultation.

2  Initial Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with one of our Chiropractors, to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for us to learn more about you, your condition, your health goals, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can  meet your goals.

3  Examination

After your consultation, Dr Gray or Dr Monique will perform a complete chiropractic physical examination, including posture, movement, neurological and orthopaedic tests where appropriate.  Nothing will be done in our office without your consent. As well as physical examinations, your chiropractor may also look at and discuss with you any chemical/toxicity and emotional stressors that may be impacting upon your health.   We encourage you to ask questions and provide as much information as you can to your chiropractor - this helps us to conduct a comprehensive evaluation and help you on the way to achieving your health goals.

4  Computerised Scans theramal_scan.jpg

A computerised spinal scan may be performed to further assess nerve function to various parts of your body, including muscles, blood vessels, glands and organs.   The Insight Milennium Thermal Scanner is a state-of-the-art computerised spinal assessment that allows your chiropractor to objectively detect any areas of nerve disturbance, document and monitor your results, and deliver the appropriate chiropractic care.  The nervous system and therefore your body can be malfunctioning for months or even years before you experience any symptoms. As we say, "symptoms are often the last to show and the first to go!".  This is why we often utilise the Insight Milennium Scanner - it can provide additional technology to our Chiropractors to detect and correct the subluxations (ie misalignments of the spine) that cause nerve interference.  Any abnormalities in test results could be an indication of your presenting condition, or associated health problems.

5  X-Rays

If necessary,  a referral for X-Rays may be organised prior to your 2nd visit with us.  X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us to any serious spinal conditions.   Your X-Rays (if required) will be 100% claimable via Medicare.  If you are referred for X-Rays you will be booked in by one of our assistants for your Report of Findings Visit (2nd visit), where the Chiropractor will go through the X-Ray results with you, so that you understand what they mean, and so that you can ask questions.  Many people are amazed when they see their X-Rays up close for the first time, and often they can identify any misalignments or degeneration themselves, when viewing the X-Rays with their Chiropractor for the first time.

Please note:  not all clients require X-Rays. Because of the nature of X-Rays we do not routinely refer for X-Rays unless they are clinically warranted.  Pregnant Women are not referred for Xrays and Children are also not routinely referred for X-Rays.
